After rumors emerged about the addition of SHIB payments, Electronic Retail Company Newegg, has finally put the speculations to bed. The company has officially announced the addition of the meme coin.
The company took to Twitter to confirm the rumors. The SHIB community has been expecting this sort of news from Newegg following weeks of speculations after an encrypted tweet tagging the developer of the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency Shytoshi Kusama and SHIB’s official Twitter account requesting conversation surfaced.
Now that SHIB payments have become a reality, Newegg stated that customers can buy goods using SHIB starting from Monday November 29, 2021. The news was unsurprising, given Newegg’s history of implementing crypto-friendly decisions that favors crypto users.
Shiba Inu Adds to the Growing List of Cryptocurrencies Accepted By Newegg
The Electronic Retail Company is a crypto supporter, and that is evident in the number of payment options it supports. The retailer accepts Bitcoin payments, BTC Cash, LTC, ETH, DOGE, Wrapped BTC, Dai, alongside stablecoins, such as BUSD and USDC.
Following its crypto payments support, Newegg has made the headlines on countless occasions, including news about its Black Friday deals. In November, since its retail site emerged, the company has made several crypto-related announcements that have left positive impressions on the company.
This year, the company disclosed a 20% discount on products paid for in digital currencies via BitPay in the UK, Australia, and others. The news popularized Newegg and boosted its sales.
Shiba Inu and Dogecoin Still Going Strong
The SHIB community or “SHIB Army”, as it’s commonly called alongside the DOGE community have been in some sort of a cold war with themselves in a bid to achieve more prominence. The two meme coins have been going toe-to-toe in terms of crypto adoption since the year began.
Newegg now supports the two meme coin’s DOGE and SHIB for Payments. The company added support for DOGE back in April this year, with assistance from BitPay to finalize the setup.
Newegg isn’t the only company that has added support for Dogecoin and SHIB payments. Recently, prominent cinematic chain AMC, confirmed that it will accept Shiba Inu for payments, a few weeks after its CEO Adam Aron, tweeted that SHIB can be used for movie tickets and concessions purchases.
However, Shiba Inu is yet to make its grand entry into the sports industry, which Elon Musk’s DOGE has already. NBA team Dallas Mavericks, have already provided support for the crypto, allowing its fans worldwide to purchase any of the club’s merchandise using Dogecoin. This will give the Dogecoin community some bragging rights.
Nevertheless, the two cryptos are becoming increasingly popular despite their dwindling market valuation. SHIB’s announcement to set up its metaverse could spark a bull run that might affect the price of other meme coins like FLOKI and DOGE positively.
